Reyes gave McCree the choice between rotting in a maximum security prison, or joining Blackwatch. After a sting operation that resulted in the apprehension of Jesse McCree (a member of the Deadlock Gang, Reyes visited the man, as he was impressed with his expert marksmanship and resourcefulness. Reyes became the commander of Overwatch's Blackwatch unit. Reyes was given leadership of the group, In unity, they found the strength to defeat the rogue metahumans and end the initial meta human Crisis. Reyes and his group became fast friends, despite their different backgrounds, and decided to join Fight together. Overwatch's short list of prospective agents included members of the soldier enhancement program: which Reyes was included and, whose work ethic and courage caught the eye of the military brass back home. This small, experimental group would bring together the best and brightest from around the world to wage asymmetrical warfare against the rogue metahumans. As governments tried and failed to neutralize the Metahumans, the United Nations was busy forming an international task force called Overwatch. Reyes and his fellow augmented soldiers soon put their abilities to use with the advent of the Metahuman Crisis. Reyes earned a coveted position in the government's controversial and still-classified (but widely acknowledged) "soldier enhancement program." Military scientists shaped Reyes and other inductees into the perfect soldiers, blessed with superhuman speed, strength, and agility, during the soldier enhancement program, Reyes was referred to as Soldier: 24. He achieved veteran status, and was highly respected. Prior to the rise of Meta Humans, he joined the United States military, where he achieved a senior officer position. The man who would later be known as Reaper was originally known as Gabriel Reyes. Even after the complete destruction of his body, Reaper has been observed to retain some kind of form as a black mist, apparently able to regain physical form at a later point. During this time as well, his ammunition count automatically refills his weapon immediately after activating this ability.ĭue to experiments carried out by Doctor Moira O'Deorain, Reaper's cells simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. During this time, Reaper may move and jump, though at reduced speed.
Shadow Step can be used while jumping or falling.ĭeathBlossom: Reaper automatically fires at any enemies around him within range. Reaper has several voice lines that are very prominent when teleporting to nearby enemies. Reaper is very vulnerable during Shadow Step, as he can not shoot, crouch, walk, jump, or reload during the animation. Aiming at the side of a ledge will put the target on its top, allowing Reaper to ascend to a higher level. Pressing the secondary fire button will cancel it, as long as it is pressed before the teleportation sequence begins. This is done simply by aiming at the location, then pressing the primary fire button. Shadow Step:Upon first activating Shadow Step, Reaper is able to mark a location within range, then teleports to that location over the course of two seconds. His speed however is accelerated as he has nothing really holding him back from moving, he isn’t however too fast as to be able to outrun speedsters.
While in this form, he takes no damage and is able to pass through enemies, but cannot fire his weapons or use other abilities. Wraith form:Reaper becomes a shadow for a short period of time. Each pellet can also deal headshot, inflicting heavy amount of damage in close range. Each of these guns fires 20 pellets for one round, and they have a wide spread, and a close distance falloff range, making the shot ineffective from a moderately far distance.
Hellfire shotguns: Reaper will alternate between his two shotguns. This vampiric type of ability is especially useful for him to combat against slower opponents as he is effectively able to recycle the energy he options from them and prevent himself from taking in TOO much energy and potentially being defeated through that way. The Reaping: Reaper steals energy from his enemies as he damages them with any attacks that he may land upon them. Natural hair color: His hair is a brown color which his father and his mother both shared and passed down upon him.Ĭurrent hair color: Same as the description above however his hair coloring darkened a bit as his augmentations brought upon him.Ĭurrently he works as an advanced member of the league of assassins whom of which is sent forth towards high value targets that need a more firm hand to deal with. His eye color in his normal form would have been brown, however in his advanced form his eyes can be seen turning to red for unknown reasons.
